his story is meant to be a character study that explores the way mental illness
and trauma affects people. it's meant to be a way for me to process my own issues
and create a character for others to relate to.
if i ever get around to writing it, i wish for it to be as metaphorical and subtle
in it's storytelling as possible.
leaving some details out or making them vague
leaves more room for the reader's interpretation and therefore
making it easier for them to connect with the character, which is exactly my goal
for this story.
as for james as a character, he's a very introverted and asocial person who sees
everyone around him as either a threat or an insignificant pest.
he's hostile towards
most people who try to approach him. the few select people he calls friends he often doubts
and believes they secretly do not care about him. despite that, he's afraid of being abandoned
and seeks out new people often, hoping they can fill in the lonely gap in his heart.
once he gets attached to someone it's very extreme and bordering on obsessive, ignoring
other people, his tasks and needs for the sake of spending time with that person.
all of this behavior stems from his past traumas that i like to keep vague for reasons
stated above. he doesn't have a healthy connection with his parents and used to be
quite lonely and a social reject for the majority of his life. the only thing that survived
of his past sorrow has turned into hate. holy shit this sounds corny but ykwim 💀
